It was established about 37 years ago for functioning as buyer’s agent for hides and skins with the main object to promote the leather business relation between the foreign buyers and sellers in the leather sector of Bangladesh.

With the untiring efforts of Sheikh Mostafa Ahmad, Cheif Executive Officer, CEO respectively Leather Export Company. inherited this business from their ancestors earned good reputation and goodwill from both the buyers and the sellers and expanded to its present infrastructure comprising experienced and dedicated personnel from Leather Trade.

For the greater interest of both the buyers from abroad and sellers at home Leather Export Company, LEC, stress priority on determining the competitive prices while concluding purchase / sale contract and also on the quality of the goods as per contracted specification and timely shipment.

Finishing determines the appearance of the final surface of the leather and the surface properties. This includes colouring, waterproofing, wax dressings, but also mechanical processing stages such as ironing or embossing of the leather.

Split leather

Split leather is the bottom part of the leather after being split. It’s sometimes called suede and has a nappy appearance. It’s more commonly found in work gloves.

The term “leather goods” is applied and generally confined to articles made mainly of leathers and intended to carry personal belongings. Some articles are carried in pockets and some are carried in hand or shoulder. The variety of leather goods we come across every day is countless. 

When there are a variety of articles that differ in sizes, shapes, designs and methods of constructions, it is absolutely necessary to classify them into separate convenient articles of similar kind. Leather products are broadly classified into leather goods, leather garments, footwear, gloves, sports goods and harness and saddler.
